Knowledge spaces - Our Libraries

At totally 16 locations in Germany and abroad, the DAI specialist libraries are open to scholars from around the world. In accordance with the research mandate and the specialities of the respective locations, the libraries have region- and subject-related collection priorities. Extensive physical and digital holdings as well as bibliographies on classical archaeology as well as on pre- and early history are accessible through the joint DAI catalogue iDAI.bibliography/ZENON

iDAI.bibliography/ZENON is the central directory system of the institute's 16 libraries. With its approximately 1.4 million entry records, it is one of the world's largest bibliographic reference instruments for ancient studies. At the same time, iDAI.bibliography also indexes digitised prints from the 16th to 19th centuries, digitised journals and open access publications in classical studies and to an increasing degree lists hitherto unrecorded inventories of specialist literature:

Since the 19th century, the DAI has been active in establishing fundamental thesauruses which are now accessible through iDAI.thesauri. Thesauruses are powerful tools in themselves but also form an important source for text mining and linked open data approaches.
