History
The core of the library of the Sana'a branch goes back to holdings belonging to the Baghdad library. Since the founding of the branch office in 1978, the library has expanded continuously and offers primarily works on the archaeology and art history of the Arabian Peninsula. With its approximately 4,000 volumes, it today is the largest archaeological library in Yemen. In 2018, a small library focussing on South Arabia and East Africa was installed in the premises of the Sana'a branch office in Berlin.

The library primarily acquires publications on the archaeology and cultural history of Arabia and East Africa from the prehistoric period to Islamic times.
The library's holdings comprise approx. 4,000 volumes and currently 7 acquired periodicals, of which approx. 1,000 books are stored in Berlin.
