The publications of the Orient Department regularly publish research findings and reports on the scientific work of the Damascus Branch and Research Unit of the DAI in Amman in the core areas of Near Eastern archaeology, classical archaeology and building and settlement research in the Levantine region as well as related research areas. In addition to excavation reports, monographic topics and commemorative publications, articles on specific research issues complement the range of publications.
The Zeitschrift für Orient-Archäologie (ZorA) and the series Damaszener Forschungen (DaF) are available to researchers as publication medium.

The commemorative publication "Drawing the Threads Together. Studies on Archaeology in Honour of Karin Bartl" is dedicated to the long-time director of the Damascus Branch of the Orient Department of the German Archaeological Institute, who has carried out extensive research in the field of archaeology of the Near East and beyond during her career.
The book contains 28 articles written by 38 of her colleagues and friends from Afghanistan, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, the Netherlands, Syria and the United States. The various contributions combine archaeological, theoretical and historical studies from the Neolithic to the Ottoman period, dealing primarily with the Levant region, but also covering the cultural regions of Afghanistan, Turkey and the Arabian Peninsula, including Yemen.

Thematic booklets on cultural preservation: knowledge transfer and building techniques in Gadara/Umm Qays
As part of the research endeavours, the project initiatives for cultural and nature mediation as well as on topics of building conservation and construction techniques in and around Gadara/Umm Qays, various themed booklets/information brochures have been produced, which are available in German, English and Arabic.
