When submitting your work, please follow the instructions on this page in order to prepare your text and illustrations. If all requirements are not met, the submitted work will be returned to the author for revision or rejected on formal grounds.
In addition to the information below, other guidelines may apply. We encourage you to consult the pages of the relevant journals or series, the editorial offices or research data management departments, and to contact our editorial staff before submitting.
Submission Form for Journals and Series
The DAI recommends that articles are submitted directly via the relevant publication portals iDAI.publications/journals and iDAI.publications/books. This ensures that the review process can be carried out promptly. Instructions can be found in the respective systems. However, if you prefer a different submission method, please contact the relevant editorial office.
Submission Checklist for Journals and Series
- The text in one file, formatted according to DAI citation style and notes on text preparation
- Captions in a separate file
- Image credits in a separate file. Please state per image:
- Name of the image author(s)
- The licence under which the DAI may use the image (and - if applicable - the image provider's specifications for additions to the image credits)
- If available: the archive or negative number
- In the case of an image citation: Citation of the complete source including the author(s) of the image(s)
- Illustration templates are prepared in accordance with the instructions for the preparation of illustrations
- For author's contract: Private registration address
- For journals/edited volumes: The address to be printed in the article (usually the address of the institution)
- Summary or abstract (in each case including spaces):
- For journals: 900 characters
- For monographs and edited volumes: 1,800 characters
- 5 Keywords. We recommend
- for places, regiond and countries -iDAI.gazetteer
- for all other terms (except names of specific persons and gods) - iDAI.welt-thesaurus
- Recommended: ORCID and/or comparable IDs for authors
- Recommended: IDs for institutions, grants, etc. (ROR or similar)
Digital catalogues or similar collections that are to be published as digital supplements should generally also be included in the scientific and editorial review process of the overall publication. Authors should therefore make these collections available or accessible to the editorial team in an appropriate manner. See also
