KulturGutRetter

The KulturGutRetter mechanism pools the expertise available in Germany in the fields of cultural heritage conservation and emergency and disaster relief in a team of experts and volunteers who can provide rapid international assistance in securing and preserving objects and buildings in the event of a crisis. In the future, the KulturGutRetter will be able to respond to international requests for assistance, by deploying its Cultural Heritage Response Unit (CHRU). The Management and Coordination, Immovable Cultural Assets and IT & Data sub-projects are based at the DAI, the Movable Cultural Assets section at LEIZA and the Operations & Logistics section at THW. Specialists at the DAI manage and coordinate the sub-projects and ensure the standardisation of processes. For this purpose, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Minimum Standard Procedures (MSPs) are developed.
