Fascinated children and parents are sitting on carpets around German Archaeologists on October 2nd at children’s museum in Amman.

They are producing small beads from clay as the first farmers did in Jordan more than 5000 years ago. Small hands are decorating the beads with nice ornaments. Then the beads are burnt on a small fire and at the end the necklace is finished by putting them on a string.

This hands-on-activity is part of the promotion work of the German Archaeological Team working at the excavation in Gadara/Umm Qays. Claudia Bührig from Berlin, Lisa Berger from Cologne and Frank Andraschko from Hamburg prepared a small informative exhibition for the children with a lot of information concerning the archaeology of Jordan. More than 230 children of around 3000 visitors took part in the activities which were held together with the museum staff.
