Capacity Building Bericht Empfang 29.08. 2023

Aktivitäten im Bereich der akademischen Lehre und des Capacity Building bilden eine wichtige Komponente in den Aktivitäten der Abteilung Kairo. Dazu gehören Fortbildungsmaßnahmen in den Inspektoraten des Landes und seiner Museen sowie bei Partnerorganisationen des ägyptischen Ministeriums für Tourismus und Antiquitäten. Diese Weiterbildungsmaßnahmen werden in Zusammenarbeit mit der zentralen Training Unit des benannten Ministeriums abgehalten. Die Fortbildungsmaßnahmen erfreuen sich lebhaften Interesses und zahlreicher Teilnahme und finden in Gestalt von mehrtägigen Workshops statt. Zu den Disziplinen, die heute in der archäologischen Forschung unverzichtbar sind und unterrichtet werden, gehören die Fernerkundung (R. Schiestl), das Forschungsdatenmanagement (A-K. Jeske), diverse Methoden altägyptischer Epigraphik (E. Wegner), Digitale Methoden der Graphikerstellung (K. Gospodar) und wissenschaftliches Publiziren (K. Stövesand), GIS (A-K. Jeske), IDAI Field (J. Watson und F. Riebschläger), Digitale Fotodokumentation (B. Ezzat) sowie Methoden der digitalen Dokumentation (M. Osman und K. Gospodar). Die feierliche Verleihung der Zertifikate für die erfolgreiche Teilnahme an den Workshops fand am 29. August 2023  statt. Im Anschluss an die Verleihung gab es einen Empfang im Garten des Deutschen Archäologischen Instituts, zu dem alle Teilnehmer*innen und Mitarbeiter*innen sowie externe Lektor*innen herzlich eingeladen waren und eine gute Möglichkeit des Austauschs bot.

Academic teaching and capacity building activities form an important component of the Cairo Department's activities. These include training activities in the inspectorates of the country and its museums, as well as at partner organizations of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. These training activities are held in cooperation with the Central Training Unit of the designated Ministry. The training activities enjoy lively interest and participation and take the form of workshops lasting several days. Among the disciplines that are indispensable in archaeological research today and are taught are remote sensing (R. Schiestl), research data management (A-K. Jeske), various methods of ancient Egyptian epigraphy (E. Wegner), digital methods of graph production (K. Gospodar) and scientific publishing (K. Stövesand), GIS (A-K. Jeske), IDAI Field (J. Watson and F. Riebschläger), digital photo documentation (B. Ezzat), and methods of digital documentation (M. Osman and K. Gospodar). The ceremonial awarding of certificates for successful participation in the workshops took place on August 29, 2023. The ceremony was followed by a reception in the garden of the German Archaeological Institute, to which all participants and staff as well as external lecturers were cordially invited and which offered a good opportunity for exchange.
