Mediterranean as a Connecting Sea: 4th Meeting held at Madrid

The Madrid department is hosting the 4th meeting of the joint research project “Mediterranean as a Connecting Sea”, which is organized by Tomoaki
Shinoda of the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa, The Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Previous meetings were
held at Beirut and at Tokyo. Felix Arnold (DAI Madrid) has been a member of the working group since the beginning in 2021, together with colleagues
of the American University of Beirut, the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, the Japanese Society for Promotion of Science Cairo Research
Station, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Seinan Gakuin University, Keio University and the University of Manchester. The joint research
project focuses on economic, cultural and religious connections across the Mediterranean region in the 14th to 16th century AD.
