Profile
The Commission publishes contributions from the entire field of non-European archaeology, including archaeological research primarily from Africa, Asia, Australia, Oceania and the Americas, as well as reports on projects and fieldwork, material and site presentations, overviews and theoretical papers on archaeology and cultural preservation.
Since 2005, the Commission has regularly published the monograph series "Forschungen zur Archäologie Außereuropäischer Kulturen" (FAAK) as a print edition.
Since 2020, the "Journal of Global Archaeology" (JoGA) has been published as a digital-only journal.
Due to the renaming of the Commission in 2005 from the original name "Commission for General and Comparative Archaeology" to "Commission for Archaeology of Non-European Cultures", the publications were also renamed accordingly. The Commission's completed series include the "Beiträge zur Allgemeinen und Vergleichenden Archäologie" (1979–2004), the "Forschungen zur Allgemeinen und Vergleichenden Archäologie" (1981–2004), the "Kolloquien zur Allgemeinen und Vergleichenden Archäologie" (1981–1983), the "Materialien zur Allgemeinen und Vergleichenden Archäologie" (1982–2001) and the "Zeitschrift für Archäologie Außereuropäischer Kulturen" (2006–2017), all of which were published in print.
